Every year when I lived in Korea, I had to leave the country to renew my visa. Typically I would go to Australia to see my kids. But my first stop on arrival was always a good deli, to buy olives and cheese. Then I’d go to a bottle shop and buy good beer. Foods like this were simply unavailable in Korea 10 years ago. They are still hard to get.
Home food is best.
10 years ago - Geomungo class.

Ten years ago I started to learn the geomungo, a Korean 6-stringed fretted zither, at the National centre for Korean Traditional Performing Arts, in Seoul. I didn’t get far with it. The classes were all in Korean and I found it hard to keep up. I still have a geomungo and a kayageum (12 string harp zither). I really should sell them, but they are beautiful things…

Yes, it’s a bar, not a zoo. Apparently there are animals…The Korean writing says “Feel the cool jungle atmosphere with the animals.” The name of the bar is Safari. And it’s in the basement. I wish now I’d gone in.
